Tibetan Multi-Media Project

In the fall of 2007 Ellie Drew will bring a small group of people to Tibet & Dharamsala, India (the home of the Dali Lama), called the Mystical Trip to India & Tibet '07. When she was in India in January setting up the details she asked the Tibetans in Dharamsala, "What can we bring over that would help you?" She was told that it was VERY difficult for them to afford or get laptop computers, USB memory sticks, etc. They said they dreamed of a Tibetan Multi-Media Center where they could have a real office to teach the Tibetans the skills necessary to do their OWN Web sites instead of relying on volunteers in the world community.

Ellie came home and began her mission to help this dream come true. First she contacted a computer friend in Tucson who volunteered to wholesale her laptop computers if people would provide the funding! Then, she wrote the description of the Mystical Trip to India & Tibet '07 saying it would be a "service trip" requesting everyone going would go into their communities to raise funds or donate laptops, cash and memory sticks, and everyone going so far is very excited to be helping!

In April at a keynote address to the Toronto Dowsers Ellie made a request to help with the project and passed around a coffee can - they donated $600! This is enough to buy one new laptop computer wholesale! The British Colombia Questers were generous a week later donating nearly $700. Private people have dontated $100 or $200, and one $2000. Please keep it coming. We want every person traveling on the trip to be bringing a computer with them to leave behind.
